Hi everyone—Noah Olson here with your roundup of what’s happening in Inver Grove Heights today and in the near future. Whether you’re in the mood for live music, family fun, or community celebrations, there’s something here for you.
Today’s Featured Activities
If you’re looking to get out today, check the city’s calendar for community events, city meetings, and outdoor gatherings. The Veterans Memorial Community Center often hosts morning markets and pop-up activities. Also check local coffeehouses and parks—venues like South Valley Park sometimes have informal concerts or family-focused music sessions.
City Meetings to Know
The City Council and various commissions maintain regular schedules. Tonight, there’s a City Council meeting in the Council Chambers that’s open to the public. These meetings offer a great way to stay involved and hear what’s on the horizon for city planning and services.
Upcoming Events You Shouldn’t Miss
- IGH Days Celebration (Sep 9–13): The city’s big annual festival is returning. Expect parades, a community expo, a children’s entrepreneur market, and plenty more to bring everyone together.
- Farmer’s Market at VMCC: Weekly opportunity to shop local—fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and more. Great way to support area farmers and small businesses.
- Food Truck Festival: Another favorite—food trucks, music, and family-friendly fun. One of the next festivals is scheduled in mid-August.
- Bags Tournament & Glow DJ Party: During IGH Days, plan to stop by Mississippi Pub for their bags tournament on September 12, and stick around for the glow-edition DJ dance party that night.
Tips for Planning
Most events are outdoors or in mixed settings. If the weather looks iffy, double-check the city’s weather hotline or the event organizer’s notice. It’s also smart to arrive early—these community events tend to draw well, and parking near Venetia Veterans Memorial Community Center (VMCC) and Cahill Avenue can fill up fast. Plan for cash or card—some small vendors prefer cash.
