Sustainable IGH Awards
The city recognizes individuals and organizations through the Sustainable IGH Awards, celebrating actions that promote energy efficiency, water conservation, and community well-being. Participants can achieve recognition levels from Bronze to Gold by completing required and additional sustainable actions. Special Recognition is awarded annually to one resident and one business demonstrating significant achievements. The application period for the 2026 awards is open until May 8, 2026. Storm Drain Stenciling Program
To protect local waterways, the Lower Mississippi River Watershed Management Organization has introduced the Storm Drain Stenciling Program. This initiative invites residents to stencil messages near storm drains, reminding the community that materials entering these drains flow directly into nearby lakes and rivers. Energy Action Plan
In collaboration with Xcel Energy, Inver Grove Heights developed an Energy Action Plan approved in March 2021. This plan outlines strategies for homeowners, renters, businesses, and institutions to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs.
