The moratorium was prompted by a proposed 54,000-square-foot data center on Carmen Avenue East. Residents have expressed concerns about noise pollution, increased electricity consumption, and potential environmental effects. The developer has indicated that the facility would use approximately five megawatts of electricity daily, enough to power nearly 4,800 homes.
During the moratorium, city officials plan to evaluate zoning regulations, infrastructure capabilities, and environmental considerations to ensure that future data center developments align with the community’s best interests.
