Inver Grove Heights Food & Dining Roundup: Favorites, New Eats, and What’s Good

Standout Local Favorites

If someone asks what to eat in Inver Grove Heights, there are a few places I always point them toward.

  • B-52 Burgers & Brew – A go-to for burgers done right, a solid beer list, and fun sports-bar vibes. It’s reliable for both casual weeknights and watching a game with friends.
  • Cahill Diner – All-day breakfast, classic American diner fare, retro feel and strong community presence. For pancakes, skillets, or a stack of eggs, this diner delivers.
  • Taqueria El Girasol – Birria tacos, enchiladas, and Mexican soul that locals rave about. If you love street-style flavor, this is the stop.
  • iPho2 – A Vietnamese option that hits all the things: pho, banh mi, noodle salads and treats with freshness and heart. Great when you want something more than burger-and-fries.

New and Noteworthy

Exciting things are opening or recently opened—and they’re adding variety in a big way.

  • Official Fried Chicken – A locally grown fast-casual fried chicken concept expanding into Inver Grove Heights, including the spot at Broderick Boulevard. Expect sandwiches, tenders, sides like JoJo potatoes, mac & cheese, and even dirty sodas.
  • Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks – Known for their family-friendly atmosphere and consistently good pizza and cheesesteaks. Newer to our dining map but already making a name.
  • MC’s Pub – Coming to Cahill Avenue. A neighborhood spot with pub classics: burgers, fish fry, maybe weekend specials. It’s a welcome addition for laid-back eats.

Sweet Treats & Sips

Need dessert or coffee? These local gems hit the spot.

  • E & S Sweet Treats – Dessert and more: boba, waffles, spring rolls, ice cream, and more. A fun place for a treat or casual meetup.
  • Angry Donkey Bakery – Formerly YoYo Donuts, this place has expanded offerings and offers upgraded baked-goods alongside good coffee.

Food Truck Vibes & Community Events

The food scene in IGH isn’t just brick-and-mortar. When the weather allows, trucks roll in and bring flavor and festivity.

  • The IGH Days Food Truck Festival is held around Veterans Memorial Community Center. It’s a solid chance to sample multiple mobile vendors in one place, grab dessert, or relax with friends outdoors.
  • Neighborhood favorites and personal picks include food trucks like Neza Tacos, often set up near Home Depot on Robert Street. When they’re around, the birria tacos draw in crowds.

Tips for Exploring the Eats

Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re planning your next meal around town:

  • Check hours ahead—smaller spots or newer openings may have limited or changing schedules.
  • Many places have daily specials—especially diners and bars—worth calling in or checking social media.
  • If attending food truck festivals, bring something to sit on. Community seating can be minimal outdoors.

If you’re looking for comfort, variety, or an excuse to try something new, Inver Grove Heights has more good food than most give credit for. Let me know if you want a “best spots for date night” edition next.
