Residents have voiced apprehensions regarding noise pollution, increased electricity consumption, and the overall suitability of the location for such a development. During recent council meetings, community members presented a petition with over 700 signatures, urging for a comprehensive environmental review of the project.
City officials have stated that the temporary pause will allow for a thorough study of the potential impacts of data centers, including zoning considerations and infrastructure requirements.
