Summer brings the National Trails Day Scavenger Hunt, Huck Finn Fishing Derby, and the Farmers Market, which runs from June through October. Fall features IGH Days in September, an annual celebration with a treasure hunt, city-wide garage sale, and a coloring contest. DARTS is a non-profit offering services such as home repair, outdoor chores, caregiving support, and transportation, empowering older adults to age independently. Neighbors, Inc. provides supportive services like transportation, a food shelf, and emergency grants for utility shut-offs and evictions. The Spartan Prevention, Advocacy, and Resource Coalition (SPARC) is a community group focused on creating connections that enrich aging and supporting diverse community needs.
Veterans Memorial Community Center
The Veterans Memorial Community Center (VMCC) serves as a hub for recreation and community gatherings. It features an indoor water park, lap pool, dive well, fitness center, two ice arenas (one converted to turf seasonally), and a gymnasium. The VMCC hosts various events and programs throughout the year, catering to all age groups and interests.
