📅 Not-to-Miss Upcoming Events

Looking ahead, here are community favorites and signature events to plan for:

Inver Grove Heights Days (IGH Days)

Dates: September 9–13. ALl across town, this is our big annual community celebration. Expect a food truck festival, a parade of floats and bands, fireworks over Simley Island Park, classic car show, family entertainment, bingo, and more. Detailed schedule available closer to the start. Button purchase supports many of the events. Free to attend unless button is required.

Featured on specific days:

  • Sept 10: IGH Days Food Truck Festival at Veterans Memorial Community Center (4–7 PM), plus a new euchre tournament at VMCC’s Community Room 2 starting at 4 PM.
  • Sept 12: The “Bike the Bridges” family ride (~5 miles), starting from Swing Bridge Park at 3 PM.
  • Sept 13: Farmers’ Market and Business Expo & Kids Court—main street fun with local goods, family games, and hands-on activities.

Gertens Workshops

For gardening and creative types, Gertens Garden Center has a lineup of upcoming workshops like “Paint a Pot, Pot a Friend,” “Garden Inspired Wall Hangings,” and Oktoberfest-themed events mid-September. Good for small groups or bringing a friend along.

ℹ️ Planning Notes

  • For most IGH Days events, a community button helps support activities and may be required for certain events.
  • Volunteer-run committees host IGH Days, working in partnership with city parks and rec, so many events are free—though some have small fees or registrations where noted.
  • If you’re heading to outdoor events like food festivals or rides, check weather forecasts.
  • For city meetings (like City Council or Parks Advisory), regular meeting schedules are posted; open to the public.
