Vibrant Outdoor Music & Gathering Places
From the strains of acoustic guitar to full-band performances under the sky, Inver Grove Heights hosts several open-air music experiences that connect artists and neighbors. “Inver Groove: Music in the Park” at South Valley Park brings family-friendly tunes throughout summer, while “Summer Acoustics” offers intimate performances on the patio of Mississippi Pub for those evenings when a smaller, cozier vibe fits best. It’s a chance to watch local songwriters share original music just steps from your doorstep.
#IGHDays & Food Truck Festivals
One of the signature moments in our community calendar is IGH Days, a volunteer-run festival that spans several days of family-friendly fun — everything from parades and fireworks to kids’ games, markets, and live performances. A highlight is the Food Truck Festival held in conjunction with IGH Days at the Veterans Memorial Community Center, a chance to sample unique eats and hear local musicians while hanging out with friends on a warm evening.
The Visual Arts & Creations Flourishing Locally
The Inver Hills College Fine Arts Department is an important anchor when it comes to visual culture — its student exhibitions and public gallery shows give insight into new and evolving artistic voices. Across town, the Inver Grove Heights community rooms and the Veterans Memorial Community Center offer space for hands-on workshops, art fairs, and meeting hometown artists. From showing watercolor experiments to huge collaborative murals, these venues make space for both emerging and veteran creators.
Immersive Entertainment & Nontraditional Venues
Not all arts happen in a theater or gallery. Nowhere Entertainment is an all-in-one destination where immersive escape-room experiences, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf, and seasonal haunted-house attractions mix art, design, storytelling, and interactivity into something unexpected. It’s a reminder of how broad “culture” can be when we open ourselves to new formats.
How to Stay Connected & Get Involved
If you’re looking to dive deeper — whether through performing, volunteering, or simply attending — here are a few tips:
- Watch the IGH Parks & Recreation events calendar and the VisitIGH website for upcoming shows, markets, and call-for-artists opportunities.
- Attend performances and showcases at Inver Hills College to connect with artists working on new ideas.
- Support places like Mississippi Pub, the VMCC, and local festival boards — your presence helps them thrive.
- If you’re an artist or curator, reach out to the Arts & Culture Commission or volunteer groups behind IGH Days to pitch ideas.
Inver Grove Heights has many small stages, quiet galleries, casual concerts, and creative experiments happening all the time. Whether you’re a listener, maker, or somewhere in between — there’s always something around the corner. Let’s keep showing up for our cultural scene, together.
