As the summer approaches, the Inver Grove Heights community celebrates notable achievements in local sports and anticipates exciting developments with the Minnesota Vikings.
Simley High School Athletics
Simley High School continues to showcase its commitment to excellence in athletics. The school’s football program, known for its dedication and Spartan pride, recently held a successful fundraiser to support team activities. The event highlighted the community’s strong support for youth sports and the development of student-athletes.
In addition to football, Simley offers a diverse range of sports programs, including swimming, diving, soccer, and adapted sports, providing opportunities for students to engage in physical activities and develop teamwork skills.
Minnesota Vikings Updates
The Minnesota Vikings have made strategic moves to strengthen their roster for the upcoming NFL season. In March 2026, the team signed quarterback Kyler Murray to a one-year deal. Head coach Kevin O’Connell expressed optimism about Murray’s potential to contribute significantly to the team’s performance.
Additionally, the Vikings bolstered their offensive line by signing tackle Ryan Van Demark. Van Demark, who spent the previous three seasons with the Buffalo Bills, brings experience and depth to the team’s offensive front.
Fans can look forward to the Vikings’ preseason games, starting with an away game against the New York Giants on August 15, 2026, followed by a home game against the Baltimore Ravens on August 22, 2026. The regular season kicks off with a home game against the Green Bay Packers on September 13, 2026.
